1) Keeneland Horse Track
Come out to Keeneland and see the horses run! The annual fall meet at Keeneland is always fun with an average of $40 million in purses during the meet. There are over 40 races per day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Not only can you watch these beautiful animals race around the track, but you will also get to enjoy a fantastic day at the races.
2) Kentucky Horse Park
At this park, you can take a tour of thoroughbred horse farms and get up close and personal with some adorable rescue donkeys, ponies, goats, sheep, cows, bunnies – basically all types of farm animals! You could even bring your own pet to go for a walk through this animal haven. On top of all of that, you can also enjoy a scenic drive around the park and see some of the most beautiful scenery in Kentucky.
3) Lexington Farmer’s Market
If you happen to visit Lexington when produce is in season, make sure to stop by the farmer’s market. Farmers across central Kentucky gather here every Saturday morning starting at 5:30am until 11am to sell their goods. Tons of fruits, vegetables, meats, honey – if you can think of it, they probably have it at the market. Not only are the prices reasonable, but the produce is fresher than anything that you could pick up in a grocery store. You might even be able to get some deals on pumpkins and gourds for your fall decorating!
4) The Great Halloween Hunt
Here’s one of the most exciting things to do in Lexington, Kentucky this fall. Every Saturday night at midnight starting September 24th until Halloween, you will have a chance to participate in the Great Halloween Hunt. Apple season kicks off in September which means that apples are ripe and ready for picking!
